About Dark Aardvark

Dark Aardvark grew out of Veda Katz's time on the trails in and around Marin County, where chance encounters with local wildlife became highlights of her time outdoors and the inspiration behind the project.

Veda launched Dark Aardvark as a way of taking action to help ensure these incredible creatures are protected and cared for for decades to come. The project supports wildlife rescue and rehabilitation efforts in Northern California, with organizations such as WildCare and The Marine Mammal Center continuing to be part of that mission.

Veda is now a college senior studying criminal justice in Los Angeles. Although her academic path has taken her in a different direction since Dark Aardvark began, the project remains rooted in the same idea: turning an appreciation for wildlife into tangible support for the organizations working to protect it.
